Section 1 would like to introduce our new Section Director, Jane Prado, who began her new role on July 1st, 2020.
Jane has been involved in AYSO for over 25 years starting as every volunteer has, helping her children participate and succeed in soccer. She began as a volunteer with her role as a Team Manager, then began to coach her children. Jane noticed within her region, the importance of volunteering and she became Regional Commissioner for Region 2 quickly moving up the ranks to help support her fellow regions as Area Director for Area C.
Word of Jane's willingness to support and assist spread throughout AYSO and she was asked to help within Section 1. She has been the EXTRA Coordinator for East and West, Registrar for Ken Aston Referee Camps, helped run the Area Programs, Upper Division, Tournament Director for the Freeway Jam. The past six years were also dedicated to working alongside the previous Section 1 Director (Frances Stronks). In addition, she is also an Advanced Coach, a Regional Referee, a Coach Instructor and an Advanced Management Instructor.
When the opportunity arose to become Section Director, she realized that with her love for AYSO and the many friendships and bonds she had created, she could help grow her extended “family”. She jumped at the chance to continue to make difference in the organization that had impacted her life so greatly.
Her vision for Section 1 is to continue to grow and foster an environment where volunteers can reach out and support one another, as well as provide timely, concise information about AYSO and Youth Soccer to our community through various mediums and platforms. This year, with our challenging and ever-changing environment, it is clear that our regions and areas can be more collaborative and supportive as we find creative, safe and consistent ways to return to play – our number 1 priority at this time. She believes that Section 1 can broaden and deepen our commitment to AYSO and youth soccer by working together as a team at every level.
